Engine
The 2023 Sierra HD comes equipped with a 401-horsepower 6.6-liter gas V-8 engine that generates 464 pound-feet of torque. If you prefer a diesel-powered pickup, you can outfit your Sierra HD with a 445-horsepower 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine that puts out 910 pound-feet of torque. When properly equipped, the Sierra HD 2500 can tow 18,510 pounds. A properly equipped Sierra HD 3500 has a maximum towing capacity of 36,000 pounds.
Performance
If you select a Sierra HD with the gas V-8, your truck will also feature a six-speed automatic transmission with an overdrive gear for smooth, efficient operation, a tow/haul mode, and auto-grade braking. GMC pairs the turbo-diesel V-8 with a 10-speed Allison transmission that delivers seamless, straightforward acceleration and handling. The Sierra HD comes standard with an agile rear-wheel-drive system, or you can equip your pickup with an all-wheel drive for maximum control and stability in challenging conditions.
