4. Fatman's Loop Trail

Just off the highway at 5098 US-89 you will find a scenic trail that leads to a picturesque view of Flagstaff and the surrounding countryside. This moderate trail is a relatively easy walk and is well worth the hike. You may even witness some wondrous rock formations from the area's Mt. Elden volcanic origin. The trail is named Fatman's Loop because of an area that is a bit narrow.

Keep a keen eye for local wildlife like pygmy nuthatches, mule deer, and gray foxes. Skilled adventurers can continue up 2,000 feet to the Elden Lookout Trail at the summit of Mt. Elden.
