Flagstaff, AZ is a college town, so there are always plenty of fun events to explore throughout the year. Many of the summer activities in the area are accessible for people who have kids and tighter budgets, so you can surely find events to enjoy when you load your friends and family into your spacious 2023 GMC Acadia. 

1. Public Art Walking Tour

If art is your thing, then the Public Art Walking Tour throughout historic downtown Flagstaff might be a good place to start. The walking tour follows a 1.5-mile loop around public art installations from Historic Downtown to the Southside Historic District. You can also try out the Public Art Biking Tour, which takes you through the Northern Arizona University Campus and Nature County Park. 

2. Movies on the Square

Flagstaff hasn't lost the magic of watching outdoor movies. Each summer, Movies on the Square features family-friendly movies every Saturday. Activities for Movies on the Square start at 4 PM and the movie starts at dusk. The Historic Downtown area has plenty of nearby restaurants, so you can order takeout while you watch a movie, or you can visit the concession stand. 

3. Friday Night Concerts

Friday Night Concerts in Flagstaff is a time-honored tradition. Every Friday night starting at 5 PM, you can find live music at 22 E. Aspen Ave. The concert series features local bands and musicians so you can enjoy a variety of musical genres. After the concert is over, you can visit one of the many restaurants in the area.

4. Open-Air Flagstaff Markets

The Flagstaff Urban Flea Market and Flagstaff Community Market are both popular summer attractions. At the flea market, you can find a variety of goods from local artisans, including toys, leather work, woodwork, jewelry, and so much more. The flea market is open every second Saturday of each month at City Hall, located at 211 W Aspen, from 9 AM to 2 PM.

The community market is a farmer's market where you can find farm-fresh food. The community market is open all summer through October, every Sunday from 8 AM to 12 PM. You can also find this farmer's market at City Hall. 

5. First Friday ArtWalk

As one of the best art attractions in the area, the First Friday ArtWalk is a celebrated monthly event that takes place on the first Friday of each month. During this event, galleries and art businesses open special exhibitions and performances to visitors. All businesses in Historic Downtown Flagstaff are invited to join this event.
