Your new GMC is fully protected by several warranties. These warranties protect a huge range of components and systems against the rare possibility of an issue with the workmanship or materials that built your vehicle. These warranties will eventually expire, but you can extend your protection by choosing one of GMC’s extended warranty plans. As your GMC dealer, we want to tell you more about your available choices.

Your New GMC Warranties

Before we examine the extensions, let’s take a quick look at two of your initial warranties.

Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty

This warranty protects all components in your GMC against any possible defect for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever happens first. It also includes tire coverage and free towing to a dealership for any repairs.

This warranty doesn’t cover unofficial modifications, normal wear and tear, or routine maintenance.

Powertrain Limited Warranty

The powertrain consists of your engine, transmission, and drive system. Components protected under this warranty include the engine block, engine and transmission mounts, internal electrical systems, and axle shafts and bearings. The warranty duration is five years or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

Items excluded from coverage are listed in the warranty booklet and include the sensors, radiator, and wiring.

Warranty Extensions

The GMC extension warranties are known as protection plans, and there are three to choose from. We’ll examine each of them in turn.

Powertrain Protection Plan

This is the most basic plan, and as its name suggests, it focuses on your GMC’s powertrain systems. Coverage is provided for your engine, transmission, and drive system components. If you have an electric/hybrid drive system, its unique components are also protected by this plan. Components in these systems that are not included are listed in the protection plan documentation.

Silver Protection Plan

This plan covers everything in the plan above and extends coverage to your front and rear suspension, steering, climate control, brakes, and electrical system. Once again, non-protected components in these systems are specified in the plan documentation.

Platinum Protection Plan

This option provides the highest level of protection and peace of mind. It includes all the systems above and expands coverage to your navigation, audio, and high-tech systems. All components and systems in your GMC are protected except those specifically excluded in the plan documentation.

Built-In Benefits

All three protection plans also include a range of benefits. These include roadside assistance, trip interruption, and rental car coverage. These plans and their benefits, are fully transferrable if you choose to sell your GMC. The new owner will inherit the remaining mileage and duration of your protection plan.
